ITALIA DORATA (aka "Dory") entered the world on June 4, just the elegant, feminine, and precocious golden filly we had been planning, hoping, and waiting for!
A daughter of the Thoroughbred stallion Guaranteed Gold xx, Dory is the first foal of her dam Itanika and the first grandchild of our mare Itamignon. Dory is named to honor her mare family, a well respected line descended from the "Trek" mare Italia 54. "Dorata" means "Golden," and Dory is the first "Golden Italia" filly!
Beautifully colored with a large star, Dory is captivating with her large eyes and girly face. She has a strong topline with large hindquarters and lovely angles. Her movement is big and balanced, and already she is showing the multi-disciplinary athleticism of our "I" descendants, popping over anything in her path!
Earning yet another nickname, "Dora the Explorer" is bold and inquisitive, marching away from mama and resisting Itanika's constant motherly grooming. You can almost hear her saying "Yuck! Mom-spit!"
She has exceeded our expectations and appears in all respects to have great performance potential, but her value as a breeding mare may dictate her future. She is registered with the American Trakehner Association and ultimately has the potential to be approved as breeding stock, possibly becoming the first palomino horse to achieve that status. (At this time, there are no palominos in the Official Stud Book or Preliminary Stud Book).
